Digital Nights 2010 was an adaptation of "Nuit Blanche", a flagship night arts and cultural event which is held annually in major cities of Europe: Paris, Amsterdam, Riga, Madrid, Bucharest, Bruxelles, Malte/La Valette, Loule, Brescia, Brighton and Hove, Bologne.
"Nuit Blanche" was the brainchild of Christophe Girard, Deputy Mayor of Paris for Culture. In 2002, the first "Nuit Blanche" was launched in Paris, and since then it has spread to over 120 cities worldwide, including: Montreal, Tel Aviv, Miami Beac, Toronto, Gaza, Bethléem, Ramallah, Naplouse, Jerusalem. The first event of its kind in Singapore and Asia, "Digital Nights 2010" was held in conjunction with "Nuit Blanche Paris", with a showcase of international & digital arts installations at Orchard Road, Singapore Art Museum and Sculpture Square. The gallery here is for its opening night at the Singapore Art Museum, followed by artist Tom Carr’s Red Carpet - Love is in the Air installation at Orchard Road in front of Takashimaya Mall.
